The seller is Qin Shishun. He was born in 2000, so he is twenty-six this year and already the father of a child who is almost three. He grew up in a village in Rong’an County, where his parents often worked far from home. Like many children in the countryside, he never had the chance to visit an aquarium. That small regret stayed with him for years.

The two children, a boy and a girl, had just started their first year of primary school. They stopped at his stall and watched the fish swimming in the tank.
