Three ordinary people in Fujian have done something extraordinary in the same week. Within two days, three batches of stem cells left Fuzhou, heading for three patients they will never meet.
The donors have little in common. Ni Yuanheng, born in the 1990s, works as a purchasing officer at a materials company in Quanzhou. Dai Wenbin, born in the 2000s, teaches physics at a high school. Chen Huiqun works in online sales in Fuzhou. Their donations were recorded as cases 23870, 23871 and 23872 in China marrow donor programme, and 630, 631 and 632 in Fujian Province.
Ni has given blood for ten years, thirteen times, about 4,900 millilitres in all. He joined the donor database in 2019 when he walked past a blood centre. His grandfather fought in the Korean War, and his father also served in the army. I was taught to help others. If you can do something good, you should do it, he said.
He had been matched twice before but never reached the final step. When the third call came in July, he was delighted. After four days of injections, his stem cells were collected on September 7 to help a young patient.
One reason he agreed to speak publicly was to correct a common misunderstanding. Many people think donation means taking out bone marrow, which sounds frightening and harmful, he said. In fact, it is now collected from the blood, much like giving blood.
Dai, the young teacher, had watched fundraising drives for children with leukaemia when he was still at school. He joined the database in 2021. When the call came, he began to sleep and eat more carefully to make sure his body was ready.
Their cases came one after another, almost like a relay. If my stem cells can save a life, what a wonderful thing that is, Dai said.

① Within two days, three batches of stem cells left Fuzhou, heading for three patients they will never meet. 主干是 three batches of stem cells left Fuzhou。句末 heading for… 是现在分词短语作伴随状语,补充说明去向;they will never meet 前省略了 whom/that,是修饰 patients 的定语从句。
② Many people think donation means taking out bone marrow, which sounds frightening and harmful, he said. Many people think (that) donation means taking out bone marrow。

- F — 文中倪元亨特意澄清这个「common misunderstanding」:「In fact, it is now collected from the blood, much like giving blood」,题目把被否定的旧误解当事实陈述,属「与原文观点相反」。
- Physics. — 用 Dai Wenbin 定位第二段「teaches physics at a high school」,学科名词直接摘出。
